Luís Vieira has been the Principal Horn of the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa since 2015. 

Ao longo da sua carreira, foi convidado a integrar prestigiadas orquestras como a Berliner Philharmoniker, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música e Ensemble Divino Sospiro, sob a direcção de maestros como Sir Simon Rattle, Semyon Bychkov, Valery Gergiev, Herbert Blomstedt, Christian Thielemann, Gustavo Dudamel, Riccardo Chailly e Andris Nelsons. Com estas orquestras, teve a oportunidade de tocar em algumas das mais prestigiadas salas de concerto do mundo, tais como a Berliner Philharmonie, Philharmonie de Paris, Concertgebouw (Amesterdão), Royal Albert Hall (Londres), Tonhalle (Zurique), entre outras.

During his academic training, he was a member of orchestras such as The World Orchestra, the Lucerne Festival Academy, the Schleswig-Holstein Youth Orchestra, and the Orquesta Joven de la Sinfónica de Galicia.

He completed his Bachelor’s degree in 2009 at the Castelo Branco School of Applied Arts (ESART), in the class of Professor Paulo Guerreiro, later continuing his studies with Abel Pereira, Eric Terwilliger, and Sarah Willis. Between 2011 and 2013, he attended the Reina Sofía School of Music (Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía) in Madrid, studying under Radovan Vlatković, where he received the award for Best Student of the French Horn Chair from Queen Sofía of Spain. In 2015, he earned his Master’s degree in Performance from the Zurich University of the Arts (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, Switzerland), under the guidance of the same professor.

In 2011, he won the Prémio Jovens Músicos and in 2013 was a finalist in the Città di Porcia International Music Competition 

Currently, he is a Horn Professor at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa and the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas de Castelo Branco.
